The Dotted Chestnut (Conistra rubiginea) which we found on the 9th April 2023, came to light much to the delight of Amara who checked the trap on her own that morning. Running back to the house to declare she’d found a new moth. Not only that, but I’ve been notified it’s only the 5th ever recording for Lincolnshire as a whole and 3rd for VC53 (South Lincolnshire). Beautiful light yellow coloured moth with a spattering of dark patches.
We since found another on the 14th April which was darker in its marking but less pristine.
